I absolutely love Best Scentsy Scents products. And today I am going to be talking about one question that I always get asked and that is what is the best way to change the wax in my Scentsy warmer? Once that wax is fully melted, what is the best way to get it out of there to get some fresh wax in there? So that is what we will be talking about today. Like I said, I’ve been partnered with Scentsy fragrance since all the way back in 2008. I found Scentsy while I was teaching in the public school system down here in Oklahoma. As you probably know, <laugh> kids stink <laugh>. They really stink, especially after recess on a hot Oklahoma Day.
And that is the first reason that I fell in love with Best Scentsy Scents products because these products absolutely worked in my classroom. They made the room smell great even after recess time. I loved them because they worked. I also knew they were absolutely safe. They were safe to have around the kids in my classroom, safe to have around my family and my pets at home. And the third reason I fell in love with Best Scentsy Scents products is because they were affordable. So for those three reasons, I decided to go ahead and partner with the company. And I have been so excited that I did. I’ve never looked back over the last 14 years. Never regretted that decision. But like I said, today we are going to be talking about what is the best way to change the wax melts in your warmer. So I have a warmer here and that wax is fully melted.
It is time to give it a change. And there are lots of different ways that you can change wax. First of all, I’m gonna talk about the don’t dos, then I’m gonna talk about the eh, you can do it but it could cause a problem. And then I’m going to show you my favorite way to change the wax in my wax warmers. Now, when I first started out with Scentsy, I mean it was a brand new product. Not a lot of people knew a lot about it. And so we were just doing whatever we could figure out <laugh> to make it work. So oftentimes, um, my customers and myself included, I did this too. We would turn our warmers off. The goal was to wait for that wax to like be in that in between middle firmness where you could just easily pop it out.
That was all good and fine if you remembered to go back to your warmer when it was in that in between phase. But what often happened is my customers and myself would turn our warmers off. We would go about our day, completely forgot we turned them off and that wax would get hardened in the dish. Now Scentsy uses a paraffin wax, so it doesn’t get as hard as some of the other waxes that you buy at the big box stores, but it still does get pretty firm when it’s cooled down. So sometimes we would take a knife and like pop it out of there. What would happen? Now it wouldn’t happen on this cuz this is a glass dish, but many of our dishes are ceramic or porcelain with a coating on it. And the minute you take a knife in there to scrape that wax out, it can harm the finish on that dish causing it to be porous.
And the next time you put wax into it, it could seep through and down into the warmer so that that became a problem. We couldn’t continue to do that. So the next option was to wait until that wax was fully melted, pick up that dish and walk over to the trash can to dump it out. But you guys see how careful I’m being with this dish. I mean it’s absolutely full of melted wax. You can imagine what was happening. Two main things spills and while they’re not tragic, they’re a pain in the booty. And the biggest problem was people dropping those dishes cuz then it’s warm to the touch. It’s not hot enough to burn my skin, but it’s definitely warm to the touch. Or perhaps you trip over something or just so many different things can happen as you’re carrying that all the way to the trash can.
But that was our goal. Carry it to the trash can dump it out, get a paper towel, wipe it out. Spills were happening, dishes were getting broken. It just wasn’t the best Scentsy then came up with this awesome plan. I mean it was G grading concept, but they had these little plastic tab things that they sold for a hot minute. It didn’t last long. Uh, we would put the little tab thing down in the dish, then put the wax on top and then when you would turn it off, the wax would harden and you could just pop the little thing out. Okay, great concept again. But they were ugly and still a pain in the booty because you had to wait for that wax to harden to change your wax. Now I never turn my warmers off. I know many of my customers do, but my warmers stay on 24 7.
So if I am turning the warmer off, I’m likely to forget that I turned it off and <laugh> it never gets turned back on again or it’s quite some time before it gets turned on again. So we need to define a way to get this wax changed without having to turn the warmer off without the possibility of spills, without the possibility of breakage. And one of CSI’s amazing customers really did come up with a great plan and that was using cotton balls. Now I tried using paper towels for a while, but it took a lot of paper towels to soak up that much wax. So our next step was grabbing some cotton balls, um, three or four cotton balls down in there. It soaked the wax up super fast. We could just pull those right out, toss ’em in the trash. You were ready to go for fresh wax in your warmer.
It really seemed like an awesome, awesome deal. But again, there was a problem. And the problem was when we would go to pick up the wax out of those warmers that or the, the cotton balls soaked in wax out of those warmers, we would often get wax all under our nails. While it’s not tragic, it was pretty annoying, but that was our best option at the time was using cotton balls. Thankfully Scentsy has some great engineers. I mean I don’t know that they’re technically engineers, but product developers will say. And they took that awesome idea of the cotton balls and our problem of getting the wax under the nails and they ran with it. And this is what they came up with guys. We have had these cotton cleanups for quite some time now and I never want to be without them. Now when they first came out, they were selling like crazy and Scentsy had a hard time keeping up with the demand of the cotton cleanups, thankfully they’ve caught up with the demand and we have these on hand all the time now.
Now what is a cotton cleanup? If you look at it, it’s just a big hunk of cotton. If I had to guess, it’s probably the amount of like four cotton balls. But here’s what makes the biggest difference. It’s this right here. It’s like a cardboard handle that is attached to this giant cotton round. So it makes it super easy to change the wax in your wax warmers. All you have to do is take this cotton cleanup and put it in the dish. Now I will warn you if your dish is super full like this one is, you want to do a small drop, you don’t wanna just plop it in there because accidents can’t happen with that. Um, but you will notice I didn’t have to do much work here. Let me pick this up and show you a little bit closer like that cotton cleanup soaked up all that wax just like that.
I do give it a couple good swooshes just to make sure we got all of it out of there. That dish is completely clean. All my wax is right there in that cotton cleanup and this can be easily tossed in the trash. Now actually there’s still some white on this cotton cleanup. So I will use it for one of my mini warmers in another part of my house before I toss it away, I wanna make sure that I’m fully using that product before I throw it away. Now that we have this dish completely clean, I want to show you a little trick. Most of our dishes now, now our old dishes didn’t have this, but most of our dishes now will have a number on it. It’s hard for you to see that there, but there’s a number four right there on the Best Scentsy Scents dish.
That means that this warmer, it is recommended that you use four cubes of wax in this warmer. Now of course it’s your choice, you can do whatever you want, but Scentsy has a recommendation. They do all the math of the CIN throw and and all that good stuff. Wha how you’re going to get the best experience from your Best Scentsy Scents warmer. And this one has a number four. So I am now ready to put some more wax in this Scentsy warmer and today I have chosen to warm a luxe vanilla. Now luxe vanilla is no longer available, but I still am able to get it because I have it on Scentsy Club. It’s one of my favorite fragrances. I never want to be without it. So when it was available, I added it to Scentsy Club, which is our customer loyalty program. So I love that aspect of Scentsy Club and always get my bar. I have quite a few different bars on my club order so I can always get them. So I have just broken off four cubes of that bar. I am set to go. I’m just gonna drop ’em down in that warmer and I can already smell it of course cuz it’s right near my face. But within a few minutes, this room is absolutely going to smell amazing.
